How wonderful that you found a way to make your dream come true.
Every day right now seems like a knock out drag out fight to get to the finish line of bedtime here. I feel exhausted and defeated most days and completely unhappy about how I’ve parented that day. I hope you are right that someday they will all be ok. Yes, I definitely will take the kids to Seattle for a visit someday!!
Regards to you and your family.
Thanks for reading.
— AndreaAndrea Remke, writerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14423481043738037584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8394267539482200525.post-82318008157845458142018-04-12T05:32:07.535-07:002018-04-12T05:32:07.535-07:00I could've been reading about myself in this p...I could've been reading about myself in this post. I, too, gave up my dreams of writing in the big city (was always my dream to live in NYC) for a Kentucky boy. 14 years and 3 kids later and I can hardly put a paragraph together with what's left of my brain. Your writing is fantastic. Keep it up. I've been checking in and just read ...Andrea,
I've been checking in and just read this post. I know the business of being the all encompassing mom and have wondered how you are. I loved this post. it kindled memories of my own. and resonated close to home You may not be writing from a sky scraper but you are touching so many with your blog especially this one who looks over the Big Apple. . You are wise beyond your years with a perspective that grief can bring. Motherhood is my most precious gig and like you I was determined for my children to live their dreams and not let this incredible loss define them. 24 years later I can say I achieved my goal and almost 6 years ago I pursued my dream to move back to the big apple and reinvent myself with my career. Mission accomplished , living near my son and his new baby treasuring my role now as granny /grandma nanny on Friday's and still working 50 hrs per week in a pediatric rehab hospital. Honor your dream I highly recommend you take your kids on a trip to Seattle, visit pikes market, take the ferry to Bainbridge Island and make sure you find the ice cream shop . Two of my grandsons are there and its a great city to visit zoos, aquarium, and lots of sun (make sure you go in the summer July and August). Im there every August the last week being grandma and daycare for the week.
I hope it brings you comfort from someone 24 years post loss that you are on the right path, your words jump out and I have so many aha moments > Maybe I found this post to let you know that your children will soar, they will be responsible, loving , accomplished adults who will find their way because of you and the strength and courage you give them everyday. They will know their dads love from their memories of him as well as your love of him that will continue to keep him alive in all your hearts.
Sorry to ramble , somehow I think your son will buy his mom that apartment and you will write that book. Be well and as always I look forward to your next post.kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01395942082355107108noreply@blogger.com
